Bispos na África lançam oficialmente a celebração do Jubileu de Ouro da sua Associação: Logo Unvelied, Oração Recitada

Os Bispos católicos na África, no domingo, 29 de julho, lançaram oficialmente a celebração do Jubileu de Ouro do estabelecimento de sua associação conhecida como Simpósio das Conferências Episcopais da África e de Madagascar (SECAM) ao revelar o Logotipo do Jubileu e recitar pela primeira vez a oração jubilar.

Presidente da SECAM, Dom Gabriel Mbilingi de Lubango presidiu ao lançamento oficial da celebração do ano na Catedral do Sagrado Coração, Lubaga em Kampala, Uganda.

Cerca de duas dúzias de Bispos representando várias Conferências Episcopais Regionais na África agraciou o solene lançamento, durante o qual a oração jubilar foi recitada pela primeira vez.

No início da Santa Eucaristia, Dom Cipriano Kizito Lwanga de Kampala recebeu representantes dos Bispos da África na sua Catedral, explicando o significado do lugar do lançamento jubilar, inclusive tendo sido sede do Rei do Reino de Buganda, tendo recebido três Papas, sendo o primeiro o Beato Papa Paulo VI em 1969, quando inaugurou o SECAM.

Por sua vez, o Presidente da UEC, Dom John Baptist Odama de Gulu, que falou em nome dos Bispos em Uganda, clero, religiosos e leigos reconheceu com apreço a presença dos vários representantes das várias conferências e instituições da SECAM e disse que o lugar de Uganda na história da Igreja na África é um desafio à liderança para fazer a missão da SECAM se espalhar.

O logotipo do Jubileu de Ouro SECAM foi revelado no final da celebração eucarística, depois de ser trazido em frente ao altar por dois jovens.

Dom Emmanuel Badejo, da diocese de Oyo, presidente da Comissão Episcopal para as Comunicações na África (CEPACS), explicou os diversos símbolos do logotipo do Jubileu de Ouro da SECAM.

"O círculo e o mapa da África são fundidos, para dar a ideia e a imagem da África como uma família continental; uma família de colaboração pastoral, solidariedade, mostrando as características da África para o mundo inteiro. O círculo reflete unidade e unidade: que a África permaneça uma África", revelou o Bispo Badejo.

Ele continuou, "A cruz encontrada no meio do mapa africano é a mesma que a cruz no logotipo SECAM, mas neste, reflete a vitória de Cristo sobre a morte e as provações: Cristo seja Senhor sobre as mortes e as provações na África."

"O mapa aberto da África reflete que a Igreja na África está aberta às suas ilhas e ao resto do mundo como sempre foi e mostra o tradicional acolhimento caloroso da África, a sua hospitalidade e o verdadeiro sentido de comunidade como temos testemunhado hoje. Que a África permaneça acolhedora e aberta a todas as coisas boas deste mundo", explicou Dom Badejo em meio aos aplausos da congregação,

"O logotipo também retrata o tema do Jubileu de Ouro: Igreja – Família de Deus na África! Celebrai o vosso Jubileu, proclamai Jesus Cristo vosso Salvador", disse o Bispo Badejo, convidando a congregação a repetir depois dele as palavras do tema jubilar, acrescentando: "O povo no logotipo, representa a vós e a todos; o povo representa a família maior da África, na África, em Madagáscar, nas Ilhas, na diáspora, no alto mar, no deserto, onde quer que a África esteja e dentro da fraternidade SECAM mais ampla, que celebra o jubileu e proclama Cristo".

"O número 50 é projetado de forma gratuita para mostrar e prever um quadro para uma celebração suave durante todo o ano Jubileu de Ouro", disse ele.

“The colors used for the logo are the colors you find in the SECAM logo. The additional golden color brings out the celebratory nature of this celebration today and of the entire Jubilee Year, and it also represents the colors of the Holy See. Therefore, the Church in Africa is one with the universal Church; Africa and the universal Church remain one, with Christ we remain one. May our unity and peace be one day completely restored through Christ our Lord,” Bishop Badejo concluded, receiving a resounding Amen in song from the congregation of over 2000.

SECAM President then solemnly declared the Golden Jubilee officially and formerly open in the words, “For the glory of God, for the salvation of all His people in Africa and in the world, and for the growth of the Church, family of God in Africa, I hereby formerly declare the Golden Jubilee Year for the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar open, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

SECAM President then presented to the representatives of the various regional Bishops’ conferences “tools” that will be employed in celebrating the Golden Jubilee across Africa in parishes, devotional groups, homes, and institutions. Each pack contained hard copies of the Jubilee Logo, prayer, the working document, and a memory stick will soft copies of all the material, which can be distributed among clergy, religious and faithful in the various regions of the Church in Africa.

For the very first time, the Jubilee prayer was solemnly recited.

Prayer for the Golden Jubilee of SECAM

God our Father, we praise you for your infinite goodness for the Church in Africa and Madagascar, particularly for the gift of SECAM. We thank you for the first missionaries. In your eternal wisdom, you have blessed our Continent with much human, spiritual and natural resources; for this we thank you and we glorify you.

As we celebrate fifty years of SECAM, we acknowledge our sins and pray for repentance from our failings of bad governance, corruption, violence and misuse of all your gifts.

Give us greater love for our continent; help us to celebrate its rich and natural resources with sincere gratitude in our hearts and help us to use it for the good and well-being of all the people of Africa and beyond.

Almighty God, send us a fresh outpouring of your Holy Spirit in this year of jubilee, for a veritable conversion and reconciliation among ourselves, in order to bear greater witness to Jesus Christ our Savior.

Mary Immaculate, Queen of Africa, pray for us! All you Holy Martyrs of Uganda and Saints of Africa and Madagascar, pray for us! Amen.
