The proceedings covered various aspects of the life and mission of SECAM and the Church Family of God. Participants reviewed the implementation of the Symposium’s action plan, assessed its ongoing activities, and examined reports presented during the session. The meeting also provided an opportunity to share insights on the life of the Church and social realities across the various regions of Africa and its Ilands.

A highlight of the session took place on Monday, October 19, when SECAM President Cardinal Ambongo blessed the foundation stone for the new BICAM Center.

Promoting the Biblical Apostolate in Africa

Currently directed by Fr Anselm Kamuyu, a priest of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, BICAM serves as the official body of SECAM tasked with promoting, coordinating, and organizing the biblical apostolate, as well as the translation of the Bible into African languages.

The Catholic Biblical Centre for Africa and Madagascar is part of the SECAM Commission for Evangelization and brings together, among others, the biblical apostolate structures of regional and national episcopal conferences, diocesan bodies, and various organizations engaged in the biblical apostolate across the African continent and its islands.
