SECAM Welcomes Archbishop Kwofie of Accra

Most Rev. John Bonaventure KWOFIE, CSSp, on 1st March 2019 took Canonical Possession of the Accra Archdiocese in a beautiful and well attended ceremony blessed with rains at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, Ghana.

Most Rev. Kwofie was appointed by Pope Francis to shepherd the people of Accra on January 2, 2019 following the transfer of his predecessor, Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle on May 11, 2018 to the Archdiocese of Cape Coast.

He was the Bishop of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese from September 13, 2014.

Given that the SECAM Secretariat is based within the Archdiocese of Accra, according to Canon Law, the Archbishop of Accra has ecclesiastical oversight over SECAM and the priests that work there. It is in this vein that the Secretariat warmly welcomes Archbishop Kwofie as its titular ecclesiastical leader and vows to closely work with him.
