The President of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), Philippe Cardinal Ouédraogo, visited the SECAM Secretariat in Accra, from 11th to 15th September 2020 as part of his routine visits to attend to official issues requiring his presence at the Secretariat.
In a thanksgiving Mass in his honour, the President called for the urgent need to forgive one another everywhere in Africa and the Islands without limit, “because God from whom we ask for forgiveness in the ‘Our Father Prayer’, is full of mercy and compassion and forgives endlessly all our offences; he does not treat us as our sins deserve, nor does he repay us as per our offences (Pss 103:3, 10)”. He added that, from the first reading of the day, “when you pardon your neighbour any wrongs done to you, and when you pray, your sins will be forgiven” (Sirach 28:2)”.
As part of the visit, Cardinal Ouédraogo paid a courtesy call on the Archbishop of Accra and Treasurer of SECAM, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, who has not been well.
Interacting with the staff members; the President commended the friendly atmosphere at the Secretariat and encouraged the deepening of solidarity and family-spirit at the Secretariat.
