BURIAL MASS FOR REV. FR. BOSANGIA IN DRC

Burial takes place in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, of Rev. Fr. Pierre Ile B. BOSANGIA.

He died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Hospital in Accra, Ghana after a very short illness. Fr. Bosangia had served as First Deputy Secretary General at the Secretariat of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) for barely one year – from 4thNovember 2013 to 11th November 2014.

Fr. Bosangia was born on 21st July 1960 in Kinshasa where he attended primary and Secondary School (1966 – 1978), Minor and Major Seminaries (1978 – 1985). He was ordained on 1st August 1985. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Moral Theology in 1986. He received a Doctorate in Theology at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse in France in 1991.

Two Pre-burial Masses were said for the repose of the soul of Fr. Bosangia; the first one was celebrated by the Apostoplic Nuncio to Ghana, Archbishop Jean-Marie Speich at the Apostolic Nunciature in Accra on Wednesday, November 12, 2-014. The second one was at the SECAM Secretariat, Accra on Monday, November 17, 2014. It was concelebrated by Most Rev. Charles G. Palmer-Buckle, Archbishop of Accra and Treasurer of SECAM; Most Rev. Gabriel Anokye, Archbishop of Kumasi and Second Vice President of SECAM and number of priests. Both Masses were attended by the Charge d” Affaire of the Embassy of DRC in Accra, members of the Congolese Community in Ghana and staff of SECAM Secretariat.

Fr. Bosangia will be laid in state and Vigil Mass will be held at the Catholic Cathedral in Kinshasa on Tuesday, November 18. The Burial Mass will take place on November 19, 2014 at 11:00 am.

A tribute will be presented on behalf of the SECAM Presidency, the Standing Committee and all Members of SECAM at the funeral in Kinshasa.

The Presidential Council of SECAM will be attending the funeral; the Council comprises Most Rev. Most Rev. Gabriel Mbilingi, Archbishop of Lubango and President of SECAM; Most Rev. Louis Portella-Mbuyu, Bishop of Kinkala and First Vice President of SECAM and Most Rev. Gabriel Anokye, Second Vice-President of SECAM. Rev. Fr. Joseph Komakoma, Secretary General of SECAM is representing the Staff of SECAM Secretariat.
