????????

The late Archbishop Emeritus Raphael Simon Ndingi Mwana’a Nzeki was laid to rest in a quiet funeral ceremony at the Holy Family Basilica in the Archdiocese of Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday, 7th April 2020.

A letter of condolence from the Bishops of Africa and Madagascar to the Archdiocese of Nairobi, signed by the 1st Vice President of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), Rt. Rev. Sithembele Sipuka, Bishop of Mthatha, South Africa, assured the members of the Archdiocese that the thoughts of the Bishops are with them as they mourn their beloved Archbishop Emeritus.

The Bishops indicated that the passing of the late Archbishop was not only heartbreaking for the Church-Family of God in Nairobi Archdiocese, the immediate family and friends of the deceased but to the entire Africa because he was a father to all.

The late Archbishop who was a founding member of SECAM, was extolled by the African Bishops for persistently advocating for social justice and the common good. They described him as a devout Churchman, a good and gentle shepherd with a big heart for the marginalized.

Appealing to all those profoundly touched by the death of the Archbishop to find consolation in the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in Jn 11:25 and the Christian hope in the resurrection, the Bishops pormised to continue offering Masses for the repose of his gentle soul.

The late Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi passed on to eternity on 31st March 2020 at the Clergy House in Nairobi. He was 88 years of age.

Below is the detailed letter of Condolence.
