The President of SECAM, Philippe Nakellentuba Cardinal OUÉDRAOGO, Archbishop of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso has paid a working visit to the SECAM Secretariat to get to know the staff members and familiarize himself with activities of the office.
The visit which is the first after his election on 27th July 2019 in Kampala-Uganda was from 25-27 September 2019.
In a brief welcome ceremony attended by staff of the Secretariat, Cardinal Ouédraogo reminded us that SECAM is willed by God and we should work as a family. He used the opportunity to thank the outgoing Secretary Generals for their commitment and hard work during their tenure.
The President further called on the staff of the Secretariat to collaborate with him and the new leadership to continue from where his predecessors left off.
He noted the symbolism of his election; Fifty (50) years ago, the 1st President of the SECAM was a Burkinabe Cardinal, Paul Cardinal ZOUNGRANA, and at the Golden Jubilee of SECAM, by a mysterious coincidence, he, a Burkinabè Cardinal has also been elected President.
The Cardinal presided over Holy Mass at the Secretariat on the 26th of September 2019, calling on the staff to be missionaries of God’s word and reminding us, once again, to work as a family.
