Archbishop Kaigama appointed coadjutor for Archdiocese of Abuja

Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, 60, has been appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Abuja in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to succeed Cardinal John Onaiyekan who has turned 75.

Most Rev. Kaigama was until now the Archbishop of Jos. He is the President of the Regional Episcopal Conference of West Africa (RECOWA) and a former president of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria.

Born on 31 July 1958, He was ordained on 6 June 1981 and has a doctorate degree in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Archbishop Kaigama was first Bishop of Jalingo from April 1995 before his appointment to Jos in April 2000.
